Minecraft seeds are values made up of character(s) (including negative or positive integers) that are used as the basis for generating every Minecraft world. seeds determine the world you will get, if you know the seed, you can generate the same world repeatedly as long as you stay on a version that does not change the seed generation method. in the java edition (also known as the bedrock edition) there isa total of 2 to the power of 32 seeds available (in normal numbers, 4,294,957,296 seeds) that can be made from words and letters along with numbers. you can use a direct number (such as 12221291) or use a random generator inside minecraft to get 2 to the power of 64 seeds or 18,446,744,073,709,551,616 seeds.)
Microsoft did not include the copy and paste feature on the xbox one edition. It would be very simple to include it but because it is based on the useless Internet explorer from when the xbox one launched, I doubt it will come for a long time.
the older version (known as legacy) i do not own and i am not going to get my Wii U out of storage to just try seeds out.
you cannot get minecraft for free, however you can use the launcher and after downloading older version 1.2.5 or trying the demo. If you enjoy the game, please support the developers or download a open source alturnitive such as mine-test which could do with some more LUA modders.
Yes, there are others that are official, the raspberry pi edition, education edition, Minecraft 4k and the web based classic edition along with the browser remake.
Minecraft 4k was a project designed for the java 4k contest. because it is only 4 kilobytes, the game is very limited. you can only place and destroy blocks like in normal minecraft but you can only place grass, it is a randomly generated 64x64x64 world filled with glass, grass, dirt, stone, bricks, wood and leafs. there are no mobs, the game however is remarkable for fitting in only 4kb. to contrast, minecraft is about 50 megabytes at launch.
the raspberry pi edition is... well, designed for the raspberry pi. it is only 4 megabytes and designed for the raspberry pi's limited power. it is based on minecraft pocket edition and has removed features such as autospawning mobs and a day-night cycle. these can be added in using a modding API.
